Saturn is the second largest planet in our Solar System. It is unique with its thousands of beautiful ringlets-made up of chunks of ice and rock. Saturn is five times bigger in diameter than our earth even without its rings. Saturn's rings are thought to be pieces of asteroids,comets or shattered moons that were torn apart by its powerful gravity. Saturn's rings are the only ones that can be seen from Earth. All you need is a small telescope. The rings are huge but thin.The main rings could almost go from Earth to the moon. Yet, they are less than a kilometer thick. As a gas giant, you cannot stand on Saturn. Unlike Earth, Saturn's atmosphere is made up mostly of hydrogen and helium. This is the same kind of gas that you put in balloons.
